Cull cows to €2,550 and ewe and lamb pairs to €346 at Raphoe

Raphoe Mart – Cattle Prices – 02-06-2022

According to Ann Harkin, a “brisk” trade prevailed at Raphoe Mart’s cattle sale on Thursday, June 2^nd, 2022.

The mart manager reported that several entries changed hands from €3.00/kg to €3.50/kg at its most recent sale.

She noted that strong, forward cattle were “highly sought-after” again this week, with quality lots from €2.80/kg to €3.80/kg.

Harkin explained that medium weights fetched from €2.60/kg to €3.70/kg, while lighter weights traded from €2.50/kg to €3.80/kg.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen Angus cattle sold from €2.20/kg to €3/kg, and Friesian cattle pushed from €1.80/kg to €2.75/kg.

• Bulls/bullocks from €2.20/kg to €3.70/kg.
• Heifers from €2.30/kg to €3.80/kg.
• Fat cows from €900/head to €2550/head.

Summary:

• Bulls over 600kgs – €930 to €1520 over the weight;
• Beef bullocks – €945 to €1475 over the weight;
• Store bullocks – €560 to €1270 over the weight;
• Beef heifers – €955 to €1815 over the weight;
• Store heifers – €400 to €1140 over the weight.

This week’s sheep prices

According to Harkin, prices reached €346 at the mart’s sheep sale on Monday, May 30^th, 2022.

She reported that ewes sold from €100 to €234 each, while ewes with one lamb changed hands from €120-€180/team and ewes with twin lambs traded from €250-€346/team.

Lamb prices:

• €100 to €140 for 33-36kgs;
• €140 to €160 for 37-43kgs;
• €160 to €174 for 44-55kgs.

“Super” was the word Ann Harkin used to describe trade at the most recent cattle sale at Raphoe Mart on Thursday, May 26^th, 2022.

The mart manager reported that a large entry of cattle came under the hammer at its weekly general cattle sale.

She noted that farmers, agents, and feedlot buyers all competed for stock.

Strong, forward cattle changed hands from €2.80/kg to €3.80/kg, while medium weights made from €2.60/kg to €3.60/kg, lighter weights changed hands from €2.80/kg to €3.80/kg, and Friesian cattle pushed from €1.90/kg to €2.40/kg.
