Farmer who watched golf from field goes viral

“I really went to go and check my cows, and also I knew there weren’t many people who could go and watch the gold and I could watch it across the river.”

A farmer from Ballymena, who watched the Irish Open in a field surrounded by cattle over the weekend, has found worldwide fame.

Footage of Billy O’Kane, along with an estimated twenty cattle viewing the behind closed doors event, went viral across social media.

The Irish Open took place at Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort, which is set on 163-acres of lush parkland, from September 24th to September 27th.

“So, I took a deck chair and a flask of tea with me and sat and watched five or six groups and the sun was shining. I really, really enjoyed it. They are very good players, much better than me.”
