‘Serious’ trade for store bullocks in Ennis

Farming News/Mart Reports: Ennis Mart – Cattle Prices – 29-06-2023

Numbers dropped back at Ennis Mart, County Clare, on Thursday, June 29^th, 2023, with some 370 lots on offer, writes farming journalist, Catherina Cunnane.

That is according to a spokesperson who reported that cow numbers “held steady” overall, with mostly continental types on offer, along with a small selection of bulls, with prices to €2,850 for a Charolais.

The heifer ring consisted of a mix of both forward and store heifers, with “some great quality” store types on offer.

Mostly forward bullocks came under the hammer; however, store bullocks met with, in the spokesperson’s words, a “serious” trade, with these touching in excess of €3/kg.
