Exporters ‘quite active’ in Ennis

According to a spokesperson for Ennis Mart, a “larger than expected” entry of some 433 lots, including 90 calves, came under the hammer at its cattle sale on Tuesday, June 27^th, 2023.

There were some “exceptional” prices for heifers, with highs of €4.41/kg, while shippers were very active in the bull weanling ring, and these hit €3.80/kg.

The spokesperson remarked: “Calves met a strong trade again with exporters quite active.”

“Aberdeen Angus calves made from €205 to €490, while Hereford-cross calves ranged from €215 to €280 and continental calves made to €750.”

Meanwhile, a small entry of suckling stock came forward, with pairs to €1,860 and in-calf lots to €1,580.
