Teens arrested after stolen tractor involved in ‘several’ hit-and-runs

Meanwhile, the PSNI arrested three teenagers in Armagh in connection with the theft of a tractor on Tuesday morning (December 14th, 2021).

Officers recovered the agricultural vehicle, which was reported as missing to Monaghan Gardaí and involved in “several” hit and run collisions.

The three males are 16,18, and 19 years of age.

In a statement, Sergeant McGuigan of the PSNI said:

“It is believed the tractor was involved in several hit-and-run collisions before ending up in Armagh. It’s here, on the Tivnacree Road, that officers detained three males.”

“The three were arrested on suspicion of offences including driving while unfit through drink and drugs, and dangerous driving.”

“All three remain in custody at this time,” he added.

Confirming the news to That’s Farming, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said:

“An Garda Síochána is investigating the unauthorised taking of a tractor in Clontibret, Co Monaghan in the early hours of this morning, December 14th, 2021.”

“Gardaí responded to this report in two patrol vehicles. These patrol vehicles had to take evasive action to avoid a collision with the tractor.”

“No one was injured, and no vehicles were impacted in this jurisdiction. The PSNI subsequently arrested three individuals in connection with this matter in Co Armagh,” the spokesperson concluded.
