Independent TD, Michael Fitzmaurice has described the delayed re-opening of pubs as a “hammer blow” for rural Ireland.
He made the statement on Thursday, July 16th during a session where TDs questioned the government on promised legislation.
“Anyone who had a bull’s iota about rural Ireland would know that in most pubs in rural Ireland during the week, there might not be four or five people.”
“I think ye [the government] should re-look at it again, because these pubs need to get up and running for the survival of the business itself, but also for communities through rural areas.” the deputy added.
