Cull cows to €2,050 and bullocks to €1,830 in Tuam – Devane

Farming News/Mart Reports: Tuam Mart – Cattle Prices – 03-07-2023

According to Marion Devane, cull cows sold to €2,050, while heifers topped out at €1,500, and bullocks climbed to €1,830 at Tuam Mart’s cattle sale on Monday, July 3rd 2023.

Heifer prices included:

  • A pair 330 kg BBX by a Carnahoon farmer made €870 (€2.64/kg);
  • 355 kg LMX by a Jackson farmer made €1040 (€2.93/kg);
  • 395 kg BBX by an Anbally farmer made €1260 (€3.19/kg);
  • A pair 420 kg LMX by an Anbally farmer made €1240 (€2.95/kg);
  • 480 kg LMX by an Anbally farmer made €1450 (€3.02/kg);
  • 550 kg CHX by a Dunmore farmer made €1500 (€2.73/kg).

Bullock prices:

  • 325 kg LMX by a Cloghanshill farmer made €960 (€2.95/kg);
  • 370 kg LMX by a Cloghanshill farmer made €1090 (€2.95/kg);
  • 475 kg AAX by a Gortnalee farmer made €1440 (€3.03/kg);
  • 545 kg LMX by a Gortnalee farmer made €1480 (€2.72/kg);
  • 585 kg LMX by a Ballinderry farmer made €1710 (€2.92/kg);
  • 615 kg LMX by a Carlistrane farmer made €1710 (€2.78/kg);
  • 695 kg CHX by a Caherlistrane farmer made €1830 (€2.63/kg).

Cull cow prices:

  • 820 kg SIX by a Corrandulla farmer made €2050 (€2.50/kg);
  • 690 kg LMX by a Belclare farmer made €1730 (€2.51/kg);
  • 680 kg CHX by a Ballaghbawn farmer made €1640 (€2.41/kg);
  • 645 kg CHX by a Brierfield farmer made €1620 (€2.51/kg);
  • 770 kg LMX by an Anbally farmer made €2030 (€2.64/kg);
  • SIX – 730kgs – 2018-born – €1,710;
  • LM – 695kgs – 2009-born – €1,590;
  • LMX – 625kgs – 2014 born – €1,340;
  • CHX – 635kgs – 2010 born – €1,350.

According to Marion Devane, a “steady” cattle trade prevailed at Tuam Mart, Co Galway, on Monday, June 26th, 2023, writes farming journalist, Catherina Cunnane.

The mart manager reported that cull cows pushed to €1,920, while bullocks sold to €1,360 and heifers soared to €1,660.
