Gardaí investigating theft of 1976 model Ford tractor

Gardaí in Monaghan have appealed for information in connection with the theft of a vintage Ford tractor.

The agricultural vehicle was taken overnight from Tullybuck, Clontibret and last seen on Friday (December 17th, 2021), morning.

In a statement on Friday, December 17th, 2021, a spokesperson for Cavan Monaghan Garda Division, said:

“The Gardaí in Monaghan are investigating the theft of a vintage tractor overnight from Tullybuck, Clontibret.”

“It is a blue and white Ford tractor 4600, 1976 model. It was seen travelling in the direction of Clontibret GAA pitch at 8:40 am this morning.”

“Did you see anything suspicious in the area or saw this tractor on the move? If you can assist, please contact the Gardai in Monaghan on 047 77240,” the spokesperson concluded.

Teenagers arrested after tractor stolen

Meanwhile, the PSNI arrested three teenagers in Armagh in connection with the theft of a tractor on Tuesday (December 14th, 2021) morning.

Officers recovered the agricultural vehicle, which was involved in “several” hit and run collisions.

The three males are 16,18, and 19 years of age.

Police arrested the teens on suspicion of offences including driving while unfit through drink and drugs, and dangerous driving.

Confirming the news to That’s Farming, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said:

“An Garda Síochána is investigating the unauthorised taking of a tractor in Clontibret, Co Monaghan in the early hours of this morning, December 14th, 2021.”

“Gardaí responded to this report in two patrol vehicles. These patrol vehicles had to take evasive action to avoid a collision with the tractor.”

“The PSNI subsequently arrested three individuals in connection with this matter in Co Armagh,” the spokesperson concluded.

82-year-old dies following crash

Meanwhile, an 82-year-old man has died following a crash in Co Derry.

The 3-vehicle collision, which involved a tractor, occurred on the Desertmartin Road in Moneymore on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021.

In a statement, Sergeant Amanda McIvor of the PSNI said:

“Shortly before 8.20 pm, it was reported that a New Holland tractor, a Volkswagen Jetta and a Volkswagen Tiguan were involved in the incident on the Desertmartin Road,” said.

“An 82-year-old man was taken to hospital but, sadly, later died as a result of his injuries.

“Another man, aged in his 30s, was also taken to hospital following the incident.

“We are appealing to anyone who was travelling in the area around this time and who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured dashcam footage, to contact us on 101. Please quote reference 1652 14/12/21,” McIvor concluded.
