Man (70s) dies after tractor overturns

A male, aged in his 70s, has died after the tractor he was driving overturned on a roadside outside Ballyshannon in Co Donegal.

The fatal road traffic collision occurred yesterday morning (Thursday) just before 11 am.

Confirming the news to That’s Farming, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said:

“Gardaí attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal on Thursday, December 1st, 2022, at approximately 10.45 am.”

“A tractor overturned on the roadside in Corlea, outside Ballyshannon. The driver of the tractor, a male aged in his 70s, was fatally injured during the collision.”

“The body of the man was taken to the mortuary at Sligo University Hospital, where a post-mortem will take place at a later date.”

“A technical examination of the scene has been completed by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road has now reopened,” the spokesperson added.

Gardaí in Ballyshannon are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Gardaí have urged road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) – who were travelling in the area at the time – to make this available to them.

Man (70s) dies following workplace incident on farm

Last month, we reported that a male, in his 70s, died in hospital following a workplace incident on a farm in Co Donegal.

The incident occurred shortly before on Sunday, November 20th, 2022.

Confirming the news to That’s Farminga spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said:

“Gardaí are investigating a fatal workplace incident that occurred on a farm near Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, at approximately 11.25 am on Sunday, November 20th 2022.”

“A man in his late 70s was removed from the scene to Letterkenny University Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Investigations are ongoing,” the spokesperson concluded.
