Prices to €2,185 over as trade ‘on par’ with previous weeks at Raphoe

Raphoe Mart – Cattle Prices – 09-06-2022

According to Ann Harkin, demand for stock “remained high” at Raphoe Mart’s cattle sale on Thursday, June 9th, 2022.

The mart manager reported that trade was “on par” with previous weeks. Strong, forward cattle were “highly sought after” with many changing hands from €2.80/kg to €3.50/kg.

Medium weights went under the hammer from €2.70/kg to €3.60/kg, while lighter weights sold from €2.80/kg to €3.80/kg.

Friesian cattle traded from €1.80/kg to €2.60/kg and Aberdeen Angus cattle ranged from €2.40/kg to €3.20/kg.

Raphoe Mart 09-06-2022:

  • Bulls over 600kgs – €1475 to €2185 over the weight;
  • Beef bullocks – €900 to €1250 over the weight;
  • Store bullocks – €565 to €1360 over the weight;
  • Beef heifers – €970 to €1380 over the weight;
  • Store heifers – €490 to €1000 over the weight.

Summary:

  • Bulls/bullocks made from €2.40/kg to €3.50/kg;
  • Heifers traded from €2.60/kg to €3.80/kg;
  • Fat cows sold from €620/head to €2280/head.

This week’s sheep prices

According to Harkin, prices reached €315 at Raphoe Mart’s sheep sale on Monday, June 6th, 2022.

According to Harkin, ewes with twin lambs at foot fetched between €150-€315/team, while ewes with one lamb sold from €150-€234/team.

Meanwhile, fat ewes ranged from €70-€232/head at Monday’s sheep sale.

Spring lamb prices: 

  • €100 to €140 for 28-36kgs;
  • €140 to €165 for 37-42kgs;
  • €165 to €174 for 43-50kgs.

According to Ann Harkin, a “brisk” trade prevailed at Raphoe Mart’s cattle sale on Thursday, June 2nd, 2022.

The mart manager reported that several entries changed hands from €3.00/kg to €3.50/kg at its most recent sale.

She noted that strong, forward cattle were “highly sought-after” again this week, with quality lots from €2.80/kg to €3.80/kg.

Harkin explained that medium weights fetched from €2.60/kg to €3.70/kg, while lighter weights traded from €2.50/kg to €3.80/kg.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen Angus cattle sold from €2.20/kg to €3/kg, and Friesian cattle pushed from €1.80/kg to €2.75/kg.
