Kilkenny Mart report – sheep prices – 26-07-2021

According to George Candler, some 600 entries went under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart on Monday, July 26^th, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that trade “remained steady”.

“Cull ewes were a bit sharper with a top call of €208/head for 106kgs. Lambs peaked at €130/head.”

Sheep prices at Kilkenny Mart last week

According to George Candler, over 600 sheep were on offer at Kilkenny Mart on Monday, July 19^th, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that both lambs and cull ewes were easier.

Speaking following the sale, he said: “A quieter tone to this week’s sheep sale with a reduction in both spring lamb and cull ewes returns.”

“Lamb prices reduced by €2 to €6 per head with cull ewes peaking at €166 as opposed to €202 last week,” he added.

Butcher lambs – €2.45-€3.02/kg or €128-€148/head:

• 13 47kgs – €134;
• 10 51kgs – €143;
• 14 50kgs – €145;
• 15 49kgs – €148;
• 13 48kgs – €140.

Factory lambs – €2.45-€2.80/kg or €110-€130/head:

Store lambs – €2.55-€2.95/kg or €93-€115/head:
