‘Lucrative’ prices at Headford’s Limousin & Belgian Blue weanling show & sale

Headford Co-operative Livestock Mart’s annual Limousin & Belgian Blue weanling show and sale “got off to a record-breaking start with some lucrative prices given from the ring against our online contenders”.

Prices were, according to the spokesperson, “on fire with a roaring trade for quality lots”.

Prize winners

Belgian Blue class

• Bull: 1st – Martina Reilly & 2nd – Pat Forde
• Heifer: 1st – JJ Greany & 2nd JJ Greany.

Limousin class:

• Bull: 1st – Paddy Creaven & 2nd Paddy Creaven.
• Heifers: 1st – Paddy Creaven & 2nd – Emmet Wynne.

Heifer prices:

• 430 kg – LMX – €1900 / €4.42/kg
• 425 kg – BAX – €1640 / €3.86/kg
• 335 kg – BBX – €1580 / €4.72/kg
• 360 kg – LMX – €1450 / €4.03/kg;
• 435 kg – BBX – €1350 / €3.10/kg;
• 320 kg – LMX – €1260 / €3.94/kg;
• 330 kg – LMX – €1220 / €3.70/kg.

Bulls 

• 390 kg – BB – €1910 / €4.90/kg;
• 380 kg – LMX – €1560 / €4.11/kg;
• 365 kg – BBX – €1490 / €4.08/kg;
• 305 kg – BBX – €1490 / €4.89/kg;
• 320 kg – BBX – €1490/ €4.66/kg;
• 355 kg – LMX – €1450 / €4.08/kg;

Meanwhile, Headford Co-operative Livestock Mart’s annual Charolais weanling show and sale “got the season off to a phenomenal start with some eyebrow-raising prices forked out from the ring against our online contenders”.

That is according to a spokesperson who told www.thatsfarming.com, that “prices were on fire with the trade for weanling bulls being the dearest for some absolute show-stoppers”.
