Elphin Mart report – cattle prices – 01-09-2021

According to a spokesperson, heifers reached €3,540, while bullocks climbed to €2,000 at Elphin Mart on Wednesday, September 1^st, 2021.

They reported “a good show of bullocks and heifers at Wednesday’s sale”. “The show stopper on the day was a very-well bred BB heifer weighing 630kg at €3540.”

Heifers:

• 775kg – AA – €1790;
• 705kg – CH – 1740;
• 670kg – CH – €1620;
• 640kg – CH – €1600;
• 655kg – CH – €1550;
• 590kg – CH – €1540;
• 500kg – LM – €1300.

Bullocks:

• 820kg – CH – €2000;
• 800kg – CH – €1900;
• 785kg – CH – 1690;
• 705kg – AA – €1500.

30-08-2021:

The spokesperson reported, “another good show of dry cows on offer Monday evening, with a near full clearance”.

• 1005kg CH – €2280;
• 900kg CH – €2030;
• 845kg CH – €1860;
• 760kg CH – €1750;
• 750kg BB – €1690.

Suckler pairs and weanlings

“3 suckler pairs made from €1580 up to €1690. A small number of weanlings on show but a lively trade for both heifers and bulls.

Heifer weanlings:

• 390kg – CH – €950;
• 330kg – LM – €1010;
• 400kg – BB – €1100;
• 400kg – CH – €1000;
• 360kg – CH – €1030.

Bull weanlings:

• 530kg CH – €1310;
• 470kg LM – €1290;
• 440kg LM – €1170;
• 340kg CH – €1020;
• 325kg CH – €1070.

Sheep

The spokesperson reported that over 750 sheep were on offer at the mart’s sheep sale.

“Lamb prices were up €2 -€3 on the last week, with another strong show from farmers looking for store lambs.”

• 35-45kg made from €90 – €105;
• 40-45kg made from €105 – €121;
• 45-50kg made from €121 – €133;
• 50kg+ made up tp €139.

“Cull ewe trade seems to have eased slightly with prices back on previous weeks. While the best of the ewes did still come into €182, the majority of good ewes sold between €130 – €160 mark.”
