Dry cows reach €1,320 at Ballinrobe

Cattle numbers were on par with the previous week at Ballinrobe on Wednesday, July 15th, according to Tom McGuire.

Speaking following the weekly cattle sale, the mart manager, said: “If anything the trade was better than last week with plenty of quality stores around, and plenty of customers to bid for them.”

Heifers:

  • A Limousin-X 615 kg – €1380.00 or €2.24 per kg;
  • A Charolais-X – 495 kg – €1240.00 or €2.51 per kg,
  • A Belgian Blue-X – 375 kg – €945.00 or €2.52 per kg;
  • An Aberdeen Angus-X – 335 kg – €885.00 or €2.64 per kg.

Bullocks:

  • A Charolais-X 445 kg – €1140.00 or €2.56 per kg;
  • A Limousin-X – 510 kg – €1170.00 or €2.29 kg;
  • An Aberdeen Angus-X – 395 kg – €900.00 or €2.28 per kg.

Weanlings: 

  • Weanling bulls: A Limousin – 275 kg – €800.00 or €2.91 per kg.

Dry cows and suckler pairs:

  • Cull cows: A Charolais-X – 710 kg – €1320.00 or €1.86 per kg;
  • An Aberdeen Angus cow with a Charolais bull calf at foot – €1480.00.

Sheep:

With 1250 sheep on offer and plenty of customers around for lambs, trade was very brisk throughout the day, according to McGuire.

Store lambs averaging 35 kgs sold from €81.00 to €92.00, while ewe lambs climbed from €92.00 to €108.00.

Factory lambs fetched from €78.00 to €112.00, while fat ewes ranged from €87.00 to €120.00
