  • Cheviot;
  • Mule;
  • Suffolk;

  • Sufftex;
  • Texel.

A spokesperson for Carrick Prolific Ewe Lamb Breeders told That’s Farming:

“The sale is organised by a group of like-minded sheep farmers from the surrounding region who saw the need for a sale of prolific-bred ewe lambs that would be strong enough to breed in their first year if wanted.”

“Flocks are a mixture of top-performing lowland flocks and a number of hill flocks using prolific maternal ram breeds to produce quality replacements for lowland flocks.”

“The purpose of the sale is to provide a source of prolific bred ewe lambs for breeding in lowland flock that want to achieve high lambing and weaning rates of quality lambs. If this is the aim for your flock, then this is the sale for you.”

“Lambs are pre-selected by breed, weight and maturity with entries selling on the day in lots of 6, 8 or 10.”

“Lambs are weighed prior to the sale, so buyers know what they are getting,” the spokesperson added.

Top stock

The spokesperson pointed out that the venue has earned a reputation as a “top” sales centre for quality breeding stock.

The group seeks to build on that,” offering top stock in a convenient location”.

“Transport can be arranged, or stock can be brought home by sellers to be collected over the following days.”

“It is a unique opportunity to access top-quality breeding stock across a wide range of breeds with something to suit every progressive sheep breeder.”

Online bidding is available through LSL, and potential buyers are asked to register ahead of the sale.

A catalogue will be available on Facebook or through group members prior to the sale or on the day.
