Castlerea Mart report – cattle prices – 18-11-2021
According to Brendan Egan, entry numbers fell “slightly” at Castlerea Mart on Thursday, November 18th, 2021.
The mart manager cited entering the pre-Christmas period as the primary reason for the decline.
Speaking following the sale, he said:
“Trade has held up well with the weanling rings reporting an improved trade this week with bulls peaking at €3.19/kg.”
“Heifer weanlings peaked at €4.22 a kilo or €1,290 for a 305kgs Limousin-cross,” he added.
“The heifer trade remained steady with quality stores in strong demand. Meanwhile, the cows with calves at foot saw lots reach €2,680.”
“Lastly, the dry cow trade remains firm with lots making up to €1,900 or €2.51/kg,” he added.
