Castlerea Mart report – cattle prices – 11-11-2021

According to Brendan Egan, some 750 cattle went under the hammer at Castlerea Mart on Thursday, November 11^th, 2021, at its general weekly cattle.

The mart manager reported that the heifer ring witnessed a good clearance with demand and trade “on par” with last week. He said that peaked at €3.11 a kilo, while heavier lots made up to €2,080.

Speaking following the general cattle sale, he said:

“The weanling rings witnessed trade maintained for the quality lots, but plainer lots remain a harder sell at the moment.”

“The dry cow trade, with big numbers on offer, saw prices peak at €1,870 for the forward lots. The store cows witnessed a good clearance.”

“Breeding stock saw cows with calves at foot make up to €1,600, while springers made up to €1480,” Egan added.
