Carnew Mart – Cattle Prices – 14-09-2022
According to David Quinn, prices reached €2,480 at Carnew Mart’s opening weanling sale on Wednesday, September 14th, 2022.
The mart manager reported that a 416kg weanling heifer topped its most recent cattle sale.
Bulls, on the other hand, were a “very strong” trade with farmers, specialist feeders and exporters all “very anxious” to purchase stock.
Prices soared to €2,020 in this ring, and that was recorded for a 486kg Belgian Blue, while the highest price per kg was for a 323kg bull at €4.33/kg.

Bull weanlings:
- 1st prize BB bull: 486kg at €2020 sold by Mr Jimmy Staple;
- 2nd Prize BB bull: 464kg at €1550 sold by Paddy Brophy;
- 3rd Prize BB bull: 328kg at €1400 sold by Kieran Fleming.
Weanling heifers:
- 1st prize BB heifer: 384kg at €1800 sold by Mr Jimmy Staple;
- 2nd prize BB heifer: 426kg at €1360 sold by Fogarty Branding;
- 3rd Prize BB heifer: 442kg at €1300 sold by Fogarty Branding.
