Cull cows and bullocks to €2,300 in ‘very lively’ trade at Carnew

Carnew Mart – Cattle Prices – 09-04-2022

According to David Quinn, just over 1,580 lots passed through the rings at Carnew Mart’s cattle sale last weekend.

The mart manager reported a “very lively trade” throughout, with beef cattle in the ring “getting dearer”.

He added that lighter stores also met with “a very lively” trade, again with more customers available for ‘grass cattle’.

He outlined that the “cow trade was lit up once again” with up to €2,300 for a fleshed entry weighing 938kg.

Quinn explained that fleshed continental cows went under the hammer from €1,000 and €1,200 over the weight.

On the other hand, store Friesian-type cows changed hands from €300 and €600 with the kg.
