Ballymote Mart – Cattle Prices – 09-06-2022
David Faughnan reported that a “super trade across all sections” prevailed at Ballymote Mart’s cattle sale on Thursday, June 9th, 2022.
The mart manager reported that bullocks sold for up to €2,330, while heifers hit €1,730, sucklers topped out at €1,560, and in the dry cow ring, prices peaked at €3,160 for a July-2015-born Limousin-cross (no calf reg).

Bullocks changed hands from €700 to €1590 over:
- CHX – 740 KG – €2330;
- SAX – 715 KG – €2,300;
- CHX – 755 KG – €2240.
Heifers pushed from €550 to €1100 over:
- AAX – 630 KG – €1,730;
- CHX – 515 KG – €1,560;
- LMX – 450 KG – €1,450.
Sucklers went under the hammer from €1300 to €2020 per unit:
- 2019-born LMX cow with LMX heifer calf at foot – €2,020
Dry cows: Stores fetched from €900 to €1500 and heavy lots traded from €1700 to €3160/head:
- LM – 1005 kg – €3,160;
- CHX – 755 kg – €2,290;
- AAX – 745 kg – €2,240.
Last week’s sheep prices
According to the mart manager, sheep met with an “excellent” trade at the mart last Tuesday.
He reported that lighter-type cull ewes made from €90 to €125, while heavier lots ranged from €135 to €184.
- Lambs under 40 kg changed hands from €95 to €110.50 over: 39.5 kg – €150 and 37.5 kg – €134;
- 40 to 45 kg lambs made from €100 to €124 over: 44 kg – €168; 44 kg – €165 and 44.5 kg – €164;
- Lambs 45 to 50 kg traded from €105 to €128 over: 46 kg – €174; 45 kg – €173 and 49 kg – €174;
- Heavier lots peaked at €132 over: 54kg – €186 and 51kgs – €179
