Gardaí in Monaghan seized a jeep and trailer transporting silage bales earlier this month.
Gardaí received a report from a “concerned” member of the public.
Cavan Monaghan Garda Division highlighted the incident on social media on December 6th, 2020.

“This jeep and trailer were stopped tonight by the Gardai in Monaghan after receiving a report from a concerned member of the public.”
“It was travelling from the Ballybay direction towards Monaghan with no lights on either the rear of the jeep or the trailer and the brake lights were also non-existent not to mention the unsecured load – vehicle and trailer seized for PSV examination.”
“With the weather conditions that are out there tonight, dense fog and heavy frost. This was an extremely careless act.”
“We would like to advise motorists if you are out and about to please drive to the conditions and StaySafe. Please make sure not to take chances.”

Meanwhile, Gardaí in Cavan seized a jeep and trailer in recent weeks.
Gardaí attached to the Bailieboro Division stopped the driver of the 4X4 on Monday, November 30th.
In a post on social media, a Garda spokesperson said:
“Yesterday, more uninsured drivers were detected on our roads. The Gardai from Bailieboro stopped this jeep towing a trailer been driven by a learner permit holder with no L plates displayed and no insurance – the owner who was a passenger was himself disqualified- jeep seized. Court to follow.”
