A brand-new, free website has started up that allows farmers with electricity and/or gas accounts to switch their energy provider and potentially save hundreds of euro in the process, according to a company spokesperson.
WeSwitchU.ie promise to help farmers and residential customers to engage with the energy market, reducing their bills and carbon footprint each year.
Company founder and CEO, Brendan Halpin, said: “Many farmers are unaware that their farm meter is on a residential tariff and switching energy suppliers is one of the quickest and easiest ways of reducing their energy bill.”
“If a farmer signs up with WeSwitchU.ie, we source and switch to the best deal for both their farm meter and household meter every year.”
“Farmers are very busy and farm businesses are under increasing pressure to reduce energy cost and become more energy efficient. The first step any farmer can take to reduce energy cost is to ensure that the farm is on the best tariff and maximise the use of off-peak electricity.”

The website launched just a few weeks ago and has already been making strides in the Irish business world. The company was recently named as one of 15 Irish businesses to be selected for the Google ‘Adopt a Startup’ programme; an initiative that serves as a mentoring programme, with a mission to accelerate the growth of high-potential, innovative, Irish start-up businesses.
