Cull cows to €2,440 & bullocks to €2,400 in Tuam – Devane

According to Marion Devane, bullocks hit €2,400, while cull cows topped at €2,440 and heifers peaked at €1,820 at Tuam Co-operative Livestock, Co Galway.

Bullock prices:

  • 460 kg LMX by a Carnaseer farmer made €1440 (€3.13/kg);
  • 495 kg LMX by a Dunmore farmer made €1480 (€2.99/kg);
  • 510 kg CHX by a Dunmore farmer made €1530 (€3.00/kg);
  • 515 kg AAX by a Barnaderg farmer made €1440 (€2.80/kg);
  • 545 kg LMX by a Carnaseer farmer made €1510 (€2.77/kg);
  • 655 kg LLMX by a Queensfort farmer made €1950 (€2.98/kg);
  • 670 kg AAX by a Queensfort farmer made €1880 (€2.81/kg);
  • 710 kg LMX by a Glenafoshia farmer made €2170 (€3.06/kg);
  • 765 kg CHX by a Glenafoshia farmer made €2400 (€3.14/kg).

Cull cow prices:

  • 680 kg LMX by a Dunmore farmer made €1710 (€2.51/kg);
  • 785 kg LMX by a Lavally farmer made €2010 (€2.56/kg);
  • 950 kg CHX by a Cummer farmer made €2440 (€2.57/kg);
  • 725 kg CH by a Cummer farmer made €2120 (€2.92/kg);
  • 720 kg CH by a Cummer farmer made €2150 (€2.99/kg);
  • 640 kg LMX by a Lavally farmer made €1830 (€2.86/kg);
  • 675 kg BBX by a Corrandulla farmer made €1790 (€2.65/kg);
  • 525 kg LMX by a Corrandulla farmer made €1440 (€2.74/kg).

Heifer prices include:

  • 330 kg LMX by a Cloonkeely farmer made €970 (€2.97/kg);

Organic Cattle

According to Devane, a “fine” trade prevailed for Tuam’s inaugural organic cattle Sale on Monday, August 28th, 2023.

Devane said: “We held our first organic sale which was an outstanding success.”

“There was a small, yet fruitful entry and the demand presented by organic buyers was extremely strong.”

“With this, Tuam Mart will host a special organic cattle sale in conjunction with its general sale on the last Monday of every month. The next organic sale will take place on September 25th, 2023.”

  • 165 kg – AAX – €610 (€3.69/kg);
  • 340 kg – BA – €1170 (€3.44/kg) ;
  • 395 kg – HEX – €1270 (€3.22/kg);
  • 370 kg – BA – €1300 (€3.51/kg);
  • 290 kg – BA – €1040 (€3.59/kg).
