On Wednesday evening, May 20th, a group of local people helped a horse in a distressing situation.
Councillor James Charity was one of the people to attend to the scene in Co. Galway.
Reporting the event on his Facebook page, Charity explained: “[I] Received a call yesterday evening on a horse trapped, exhausted and not far from drowning in a drain.”
“Thankfully [we] managed to get her out just after 10 pm with the assistance of local neighbours, before she was taken away to a sanctuary for veterinary attention.”
The Galway councillor concluded by raising his concerns on this issue and similar cases, saying that the neglect of animals remains a serious ongoing issue throughout the county and country.
