PHOTOS: Win a pedigree ET Texel shearling ram

DC Farm Competitions is offering farmers the chance to win a pedigree ET Texel shearling ram.

This marks the first occasion that the agricultural-orientated competitions website has a sheep up for grabs.

To date, breeders from across the island of Ireland have won a selection of high-end in-calve and maiden heifers, both pedigree and commercial-types.

The pay-to-enter competition website’s most recent competition prize came in the form of a pedigree Charolais in-calf cow, with a bull calf at foot, as reported by us here.

Daniel Conway, founder of the business, has described the most recent prize as an animal with “a classy head with length, depth and bone”.

The ram is sired by Garngour Bladerunner, who cost €6,500 at Landmark 2018 and out of a Knock Ursus ewe, who was a prize-winning Texel in an All-Ireland championship in 2016.

How does it work?

The new online platform, which holds weekly competitions, has stemmed from Daniel Conway’s life-long passion for breeding high-end cattle.

The new agricultural-orientated competitions website allows farmers to be in with the chance of winning quality livestock by paying a small entry fee which is a fraction of their value.

Users are required to log onto – www.dcfarmcompetitions.com – where they select a competition of their choice.

They then click ‘enter’ to purchase a ticket and are required to answer a question to qualify and complete payment. They are then entered into the draw in question and receive email confirmation with a ticket number.

The winner of each competition is selected using a random number generator and announced during a Facebook livestream. The competition provider will contact winners and organise transfer and collection arrangements.
