Milk processors urged to ‘maximise returns’

IFA national dairy chairman, Tom Phelan, has reminded milk processors of the dependency of farmers on a fair return for their milk, with many processors soon meeting to discuss milk prices.

Speaking yesterday, Tuesday (March 9th), Phelan said: “While we are living through an exceptional public health crisis, the farming community depend on processors to maximise returns.”

He reminded co-op boards that the dairy market returns continued positive in February, with the Ornua PPI returning at least 1.5c/l more than co-ops have been paying for January milk.
