Former mart manager passes away
Danny Reilly, the former manager of Ballyjamesduff Co-operative Livestock Mart, has died.
The Oldcastle, Co Meath native, passed away at Cavan General Hospital on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022.
Paying tribute to the deceased, one user on RIP.ie, described him as “a true gentleman to have known and met in Ballyjamesduff Mart over the years”.
Another said that “he was a very nice man to deal with in Ballyjamesduff Mart”.
Another wrote that “he served Ballyjamesduff Mart and its customers with dedication”.
Moylagh Dramatic Society said he was “the best Bull McCabe that ever stood on stage”.
Ballyjamesduff Mart confirmed that it will close its office tomorrow from 10:30 am to 12 pm.
In a statement on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022, a spokesperson for the mart said:
“As a mark of respect to the late Danny Reilly, retired general Manager of Ballyjamesduff Coop Livestock Mart Ltd, the mart office will close for his Funeral from 10:30 am to 12 pm.”
According to his death notice, he is deeply regretted by his sisters, Eithne Hetherton and Greta Donoghue, sons, daughter, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He will repose at Gibney’s Funeral home this evening from 5 pm-8pm. His funeral mass will take place at 11 am in St Mary’s Church, Moylagh.
Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Ballyjamesduff Mart information
The co-op is in existence for fifty-three years and employs fifty staff between full time and part-time positions.
The mart has a well-earned reputation for quality, well-bred cattle and is unique in the sense that it has five rings.
John Tevlin is in his fifth year as manager at Ballyjamesduff Co-operative Mart. Previously, he managed Carnaross Mart, having worked there for twenty-five years,
The Meath native runs a beef enterprise with his sons, Philip, and Patrick, in the village of Carnaross.
