Loughrea Mart has paid tribute to the late Michael (Mike Mc Loughlin), a cattle dealer, who passed away on Saturday, following an incident on the premises, during its show and sale.

The incident, which allegedly involved “a bullock jumped into the crowd”, occurred shortly after 4pm.

In a statement on Monday, September 25th, 2023, a spokesperson for the mart, said:

“The management, committee and staff of Loughrea Mart extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the late Michael McLoughlin, who was involved in a tragic accident at the mart at last Saturday’s cattle show and sale.”

“Mr Mc Loughlin was a regular customer to the mart at the weekly cattle sales and was well-known in the mart community.”

“Our thoughts are with the McLoughlin family and all who were involved and present at the mart on Saturday, when the accident occurred.”

“The mart wishes to thank all who were involved and helped in any way along with the emergency services, who attended to Mr McLoughlin at the mart.”

“Investigations are ongoing within the mart. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam,” the spokesperson concluded.

Confirming the news to www.thatsfarming.com on Sunday, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána, said:
