Kilkenny Mart holds its ‘biggest sale of the autumn so far’

Some 1,300 entries went under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday (October 8tH), according to George Candler.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that while beef-types met a “good” trade, plainer lots were difficult to sell, especially those with dairy-influence.

He reported a “good lively” trade for continentals, especially quality lots in both the bullock and heifer ring.

“The heifer trade somewhat subdued except for the top-quality lots. Cull cows met a steady trade with prices similar to last week.”

“The biggest sale of the autumn so far. A lively trade for beef and forward stores both ringside and online.” the auctioneer added.

Bullocks:
  • 600+ – €1.70-€2.30/kg or €950-€1,700/head;
