‘The reported drop in quotes in the factory eased confidence somewhat’

Kilkenny Mart – Cattle Prices – 15-09-2022

According to George Candler, a smaller entry of just under 1,200 lots crossed the scales at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, September 15th, 2022.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that “quality lots in the bullock and heifer rings remained steady”.

He noted that “lesser-quality types were more difficult to get away”.

“The reported drop in quotes in the factory eased confidence somewhat. Plainer bullocks attracted fewer customers with €2.20/kg being the top call for €2.20/kg.”

Top-quality beef and forward store bullocks ranged from €2.65-€3.20/kg, while heifers changed hands for up to €2.85/kg.

Bullocks reached €2,420, while heifers topped out at €1,870 and cull cows soared to €1,950 at Thursday’s sale.
