Kilkenny: ‘Slight’ increase in bullock and heifer prices with highs of €2,500 – Candler

According to George Candler, a smaller entry of just over 600 lots came under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart’s general cattle sale on Thursday, March 9^th, 2023.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that trade remained “very strong”, with prices to €2,500 in the bullock ring and heifers to €2,180.

He commented: “We had a smaller entry on Thursday due to snow, but we had a 99% clearance, as thankfully, conditions did not prevent potential buyers from travelling.”

“It has been suggested that factories have reduced quotes, but the trade around the ring on Thursday would suggest a slight increase for quality bullocks and heifers. Cull cows once again met with a superb trade,” Candler added.
