Turnover reaches €1.25m with prices to €2,420 at Kilkenny

Kilkenny Mart – Cattle Prices – 05-05-2022

According to George Candler, some 1,100 lots passed through the ring at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, May 5^th, 2022.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that turnover reached €1.25 million at the mart’s weekly cattle sale.

Speaking following the sale, he said:

“Another excellent day of trading at Kilkenny Mart. Beef bullocks and heifers met with an excellent trade. Bullocks 600kgs+ peaked at €2,420, with the average price per head in this category being €1,968 to average €3.02/kg.”

“A fabulous trade prevailed for both beef and forward stores in both rings today. Cull cows met a phenomenal trade with 10 cows breaching the €2,000 barrier.”

“The top price in this sector was €2,420 for a 865kg Limousin. The best price per kilo was €2.90/kg for a 780kg Charolais at €2,260,” Candler added.
