Champion of Gort’s beef & store cattle show & sale tops at €3,000

Gort Mart Beef & Store Cattle Show & Sale – 18-09-2023

According to a spokesperson for Gort Mart, there was a “super” yard of quality stock at its beef & store cattle show & sale on Monday, September 18th, 2023, writes farming journalist, Catherina Cunnane.

They noted that there was “strong” demand across the board with a 98% clearance reached. Bullocks under 500kgs made up to €3.43 per kg and averaged €2.80 per kg, while entries 500 to 600 kgs sold for up to €3.44 per kg & levelled at €2.78 per kg and lots from 600kgs upwards peaked at €3.33 per kg with a €2.72 per kg average.

Meanwhile, heifers under 500 kgs climbed up to €3.51 & averaged out at €2.87 per kg.

Heifers over the 500 kg mark topped at €3.60 per kg and record an average of €2.79 per kg.

In addition, cows rose to €3.60 per kg & averaged €2.41 per kg at this sale.
