Heifers to €1,950 & bullocks to €1,760 in Ballinrobe – Gibsey

Farming News – Aurivo Ballinrobe Mart – Mart Report – 28-06-2023

According to Teresa Gibsey of Aurivo Ballinrobe Mart, its end-of-month continental met with increased numbers in the bullock and heifer section.

The mart’s assistant manager reported that bullocks ranged from €790 to €1,760 per head or €1.94 to €3.84 per kg.

The average for bullocks 500kg plus was €2.85/kg, while lighter bullocks 300 to 400 kgs stood €2.65/kg of an average.

Heifers

Heifers changed hands from €590 to €1,950 per head or €2.07 to €3.36 per kg. The average for heifers 500kg plus was €2.70/kg and heifers 400 to 500kg levelled at €2.71/kg.

A small entry of dry cows led to a full clearance with an average price of €1,205/head.

Cow prices ranged from €620 to €1,930 with the top call clinched by a farmer from Clooneen, Hollymount – 2016-born SIX – 845kgs – €2.28/kg.

Last week’s cattle prices

According to Teresa Gibsey, bullocks topped out at €1,910, while heifers hit €1,950, and cull cows soared to €1,510 at Aurivo Ballinrobe Mart, which attracted circa 60 lots, on Wednesday, June 21st, 2023, writes farming journalist, Catherina Cunnane.

The mart’s assistant manager reported that dry cows sold for an average of €1325 per head, with prices from €1,100 to €1,550.

Heifers were sold directly after cows this week, with prices ranging from €590 to €1,950 per head or €2.07 to €3.36 per kg.
