Kilkenny: ‘For the first time in weeks, the trade appears to be settling’ – Candler

According to George Candler, a small entry of some 550 lots crossed the scales at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, August 10^th, 2023.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that “there was a smaller sale of cattle compared to last week, with a sharper trade for cull cows and quality lots”.

“Some beef types met a sharper trade which was helped by smaller numbers. For the first time in weeks, the trade appears to be settling,”

“Perhaps the reduction in beef quotes, which was happening on a weekly basis, may be slowing but restoration of confidence in this sector is badly needed,” he added.
