Heifers to €2,000 and cull cows to €1,860 at Ballinrobe – Mc Guire

According to Tom Mc Guire, heifers reached €2,000, while cull cows soared to €1,860 and bullocks topped at €1,740 at Ballinrobe Mart on 02-11-2022.

The mart manager reported the following prices from the Mayo-based mart’s heifer ring:

• 465kg – SIX – €1460 or €3.14 per kg;
• 445kg – CHX – €1240 or €2.79 per kg;
• 465kg – AAX – €1280 or €2.75 per kg;
• 535kg – PB LM  – €1820 or €3.40 per kg;
• 575kg – LMX  – €1740 or €3.02 per kg;
• 505kg – CHX  – €1430 or €2.83 per kg;
• 600kg  – PB LM  – €2000 or €3.33 per kg

Dry cows:

• Top price for a CHX cow 800kg at €1860 or €2.33 per kg.

Bullock prices:

• 465kg – CHX  – €1480 or  €3.18 per kg;
• 495kg – AAX – €1430  or €2.88 per kg;
• 500kg – CHX – €1520  or €3.04 per kg;
• 545kg – AAX – €1480  or  €2.72 per kg;
• 575kg – CHX – €1600  or  €2.78 per kg;
• 615kg – CHX – €1650  or  €2.68 per kg;
• 630kg – LMX – €1740  or €2.76 per kg.

Sheep prices

According to Mc Guire, this week’s sheep sale saw demand for heavier store-type lambs, while a “mixed” trade prevailed for other sorts.

Light lambs from 25kgs up to 30kgs changed hands from €40 to €85; the best price was €80 or €2.88/kg for a pen of 30kg ewe lambs.

Meanwhile, heavier lambs up to 50kgs made in the range of €85 up to €140 for a pen of 48kg ram lambs.

Monday’s weanling sale

According to the mart manager, an “abundance of quality” stock led to a “smashing” sale and clearance at its weanling sale on Monday, October 31^st, 2022.

Prices soared to €1,280 in the weanling bull ring, while heifers topped out at €1,160.

• 350kg – CHX- €1280 or €3.65/kg;
• 395kg – CHX – €1260 or €3.18/kg;
• 355kg – CHX – €1090  or €3.07/kg;
• 335kg – LMX  – €1110 or €3.12/kg;
• 255kg – LMX – €800  or  €3.13/kg;
• 385kg – LMX  – €1130 or €2.93/kg;
• 345kg – AAX  – €940  or  €2.72/kg;
• 230kg – CHX – €720 or €3.13/kg.

Weanling heifers

• 255kg – LMX – €1160 or €4.54/kg;
• 285kg – LMX – €940   or €3.29/kg;
• 315kg – LMX – €950   or €3.01/kg;
• 275kg – AAX – €750   or €2.72/kg;
• 300kg – AAX – €820   or €2.73/kg;
• 265kg – CHX – €890   or €3.35/kg;
• 350kg – CHX – €1060 or €3.02/kg;
• 380kg – CHX – €1090 or €2.86/kg.
