Kilkenny Mart – cattle prices – 18-11-2021

According to George Candler, a smaller entry comprising just under 700 lots went under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, November 18^th, 2021.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that a “good, solid” trade prevailed for quality lots at its general cattle sale.

Speaking following the sale, Candler said:

“Heifers met a sharper trade compared to last week with a 99% clearance. Bullocks also sold well, with a 96% clearance.”

“Beef bullocks and heifers were in short supply as were light continental bullocks and heifers (320-390kgs)”

“The cull cow ring lacked quality of other weeks, with many animals just out of the parlour,” Candler added.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that a “sharper” trade prevailed for beef bullocks and forward-stores, especially continentals.

“A yard of some excellent bullocks and heifers met a vibrant trade with quality continentals in demand.”

“Quality Friesian bulls made up to €2.12/kg. Heifers peaked at €1,690 for a 700kg Limousin. Cull cows met a good firm trade, especially for quality lots.”
