Kanturk Mart Report – Cattle Sale – 20-12-2022
According to Michelle Hallihan, Kanturk Mart’s final sale of the year attracted “a great turnout of top-quality cattle”, with 300 entries, including 120 dry cows.
The mart offered prizes for the top-priced cow, the best pen of heifers & bullocks and the best weanling bull & heifer at Tuesday’s sale.
- The top-priced cow was owned by Kieran Lynch, Kilgarvan, LMX – 750kg – €2.82/kg – €2120.
- Meanwhile, the best pen of heifers was owned by Dee O’ Leary, Broadford LMX – 451kg – €2.55/kg – €1150.
- Then, Patrick Kelleher, Macroom owned the best pen of bullocks: CHX – 565kg – €2.58pkg – €1460.
- The best weanling bull was owned by Nora O’Connor, Kiskeam, LM – 290kg – €2.58/kg – €1460.
- The best weanling female was owned by Dan McCarthy, Meelin HEX – 290kg – 2.32/kg – €675.
Hallihan commented: “As 2022 draws to a close, we would like to thank each & every customer, haulier, sponsor and supporter of Kanturk Mart for your continued support during this year, and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2023.”
