Full report: Simmental Society’s charity auction raises over €13,000 for charity

The Irish Simmental Cattle Society has raised over €13,000 for the Irish Cancer Society through its Golden Jubilee Charity Auction, which concluded on Monday night (December 19th, 2022).

It held the auction through MartEye in conjunction with Ballyjamesduff Co-Op Mart to mark the closing of its Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Glennon comments

Speaking to That’s Farming, following the auction, Peadar Glennon of the Simmental Society, commented:

“The auction received the goodwill of all breeders and was supported not alone in Ireland, but across the UK with many lots going to N. Ireland and UK breeders.”

“The Simmental Society would again like to thank all who made this event possible, including breeders who donated lots, those that purchased, the underbidders, all who viewed the auction, all who helped promote the auction and especially Ballyjamesduff Mart and MartEye for facilitating the auction.”

“Breeders will be watching with interest to see if the exchange of older, much-sought-after genetics will result in future show or sale champions being bred.”

“This charity auction was a really positive way to conclude the society’s 50th-anniversary celebrations.”

“I look forward to the next chapter in Simmental breeding by wishing all an enjoyable Christmas and a successful 2023,” he concluded.
