Ennis: Prices from €5 to €2,180 with trade ‘on par’ with last week

According to a spokesperson for Ennis Mart, just under 350 lots passed through the rings at Ennis Mart on Tuesday, June 14^th, 2022.

The spokesperson noted that while numbers are beginning to drop in entry numbers, was “on par” with the previous week.

They noted that “a bigger than expected entry of calves today with a lot of reared calves on offer and these made from €5 up to €390 for AAX bulls and €690 for continentals”.

“A small but mixed entry of sucklers made to €2,180 for in-calf lots and pairs made to €1,960,” the spokesperson noted.

• CHX – 290kgs – €940- €3.24/kg;
• 3 LMX – 268kgs – €830- €3.09/kg;
• CH – 330kgs – €1,130 – €3.42/kg;

• CH – 445kgs – €1,750- €3.93/kg;
• 2 AAX – 412kgs – €1,080 – €2.61/kg;

• CHX – 465kgs – €1,550 – €3.33/kg;

Last week’s cattle prices

According to a spokesperson for Ennis Mart, over 400 lots came under the hammer on Tuesday, June 7^th, 2022.

The spokesperson noted that “trade held well, but cattle were no dearer than the previous week”.

They explained that suckler pairs topped out at €2,480, while calves sold for up to €570, weanling bulls made up to €1,310, weanling heifers changed hands for up to €1,340 and in-calf lots topped out at €1,780.

The spokesperson noted that farmers and exporters were “active” in the weanling rings at last Tuesday’s sale.
