Cull cows ‘on fire’ with prices to €2,000 at Carnew

Carnew Mart – cattle prices – 08-01-2022

According to Eugene Clune, Carnew Mart “got off to a flyer” for 2022 at its opening sale on Saturday, January 8th.

He reported that just over 950 lots – including cull cows, Heifers, bullocks, bulls, calves and dairy cows – went under the hammer.

He added that factory agents, wholesalers and northern customers drove the trade for “quality” beef cows.

Furthermore, there were “many” farmers and feeders in the market for stores in this ring.

“Cows were on fire from the start with many cows making €1,100 with the weight with a few cows breaking the €2,000 mark.”
