Blessington Mart – Cattle Prices – 14-04-2022
According to a spokesperson for Blessington Mart, a larger entry went under the hammer on Thursday, April 14th, 2022.
They noted that stronger-type cattle remained in “great demand” at the mart’s weekly cattle sale.
Blessington Mart 14-04-2022:
- Continental store bullocks – €480-€1,180 over;
- HE/AA store bullocks – €400-€880 over;
- Friesian store bullocks – €400-€880 over;
- Continental store heifers – €460-€1,050 over;
- Friesian store bullocks – €290-€540 over;
- Continental store heifers – €460-€1,050 over;
- HE/AA store heifers – €380-€680 over;
- Beef cows – €660-€1,480 over;
- Feeding (store) cows – €260-€500 over.
This week’s sheep prices:
According to a spokesperson for Blessington Mart, a “similar” trade prevailed for all classes at its weekly sheep sale on Tuesday, April 12th, 2022.
They noted that spring lambs were “harder sold” with prices to €115/head of €114 over the kg.
- Heavy hoggets – €162-€170 or €100-€110 over;
- Factory hoggets – €152-€170 or €102-€118 over;
- Spring lambs – €140-€155 or €100-€114 over;
- Heavy ewes – €176-€256/head;
- Lighter ewes – €88-€170/head.

According to a spokesperson for Blessington Mart, there was a “very strong” trade for all types of cattle at its weekly sale on Thursday, April 7th, 2022.
They reported that stronger cattle, in particular, met with “great demand” while prices, in general, ranged from €280 to €1,350 over the kg.
- Beef bullocks – €1,000-€1,350 over;
- Continental store bullocks – €520-€1,200 over;
- HE/AA store bullocks – €420-€860 over;
- Friesian store bullocks – €280-€510 over;
- Beef heifers – €680-€1,050;
- Continental store heifers – €460-€880 over;
- HE/AA store heifers – €380-€680 over;
- Beef cows – €860-€1,500 over;
- Feeding cows: €320-€520 over.
Last week’s sheep prices
According to a spokesperson for Blessington Mart, a “very good” trade prevailed for fat ewes and fat hoggets at this week’s sheep sale (Tuesday, April 5th, 2022).
They reported that heavy hoggets ranged from €166-€172 or €102-€112 over the kg, while factory hoggets went under the hammer from €152-€168 over €104-€122 over.
Meanwhile, heavy ewes changed hands from €180 to €246/head, while lighter ewes pushed from €96-€174/head and ewes with lambs at foot made from €120-€240/unit.
