Blessington Mart – Cattle Prices – 01-09-2022
According to a spokesperson for Blessington Mart, a “very good” trade prevailed for all types of forward and beef cattle on 01-09-2022.
The spokesperson noted that smaller and plainer-type cattle met with an easier trade at its general cattle sale.
HE/AA store heifers ranged from €380-€690 over the kg, while continental store heifers pushed from €440-€900 over and beef heifers changed hands from €940-€1,190 over.
Meanwhile, beef bullocks made from €1,140-€1,460 over, while continental store bullocks varied from €540-€1,080 over.
HE/AA store bullocks went under the hammer from €400-€790 over, and Friesian store bullocks sold from €280-€540 over.
This week’s sheep prices
According to a spokesperson, a “very large” entry came under the hammer at Blessington Mart on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022.
They noted that fat and store lambs were a “slightly harder sell” at its weekly sheep sale.
Good quality ewe lambs met with a “steady” trade, while plainer types were a harder sell.
- Suffolk-cross ewe lambs – €100-€150 or €66-€116 over the kg;
- 3-year-old Suffolk-cross ewes – €140-€175/head;
- Suffolk-cross hogget ewes – €150-€240 over;
- Lighter ewes – €86-€132/head;
- Heavy ewes – €140-€174 over;
- Heavy lambs – €135-€138 or €80-€92 over;
- Factory lambs – €110-€135 or €74-€86 over;
- Store lambs over 40kgs – €82-€108 or €42-€68 over;
- Store lambs over 35kgs – €75-€96 or €40-€64 over.

Trade “remained strong” for beef and forward store cattle at Blessington Mart on Thursday, August 25th, 2022.
That is according to a spokesperson who reported that some smaller, plainer types were harder sold.
