Balla Mart – cattle prices – 18-09-2021

According to a spokesperson, some 1,200 entries were on offer at Balla Mart on Saturday, August 18th, 2021.

The 2021 All-Ireland GAA Football Senior Football Championship Final resulted in a smaller entry going under the hammer at the Mayo-based mart the previous week.

The spokesperson pointed out that its special heifer sale, coupled with the ‘carry-over’ from the previous week, resulted in a larger entry.

Speaking following the sale, they said: “There was great buying for cattle, with more farmer and northern buyers around than normal.”

“It was the biggest sale, if memory serves correctly, since 2011. Heavy bullocks and heifers were up by 10-20c/kg.”
