Blessington: Cattle to €1,320 over and sheep to €650

Blessington Mart – Cattle Prices – 20-10-2022

According to a spokesperson for Blessington Mart, a large entry of cattle met with a complete clearance on Thursday, October 20^th, 2022.

The spokesperson reported that all classes met with a “very strong” trade, especially store bullocks 450kgs and upwards.

• Feeding cows – €260-€520 over the kg;
• Beef cows – €560-€1,010 over the kg;
• Beef bullocks – €1,090-€1,320 over;

• Continental store bullocks – €530-€1,060 over;
• HE/AA store bullocks – €400-€750 over;
• FR store bullocks – €240-€540 over;
• Beef heifers – €820-€1,060 over;
• Continental store heifers – €460-€760 over;
• HE/AA store heifers – €300-€650 over.

This week’s sheep prices

According to a spokesperson, there was a “very big” sale of sheep on Tuesday, October 18^th, 2022.

The spokesperson noted that there was a “very good trade for all classes” of lambs – both fat and stores.

• Breeding rams – €200-€650;
• Breeding ewes – €130-€200;
• Heavy lambs – €135-€140 of €84-€91 over;
• Factory lambs – €120-€135 or €80-€90 over;
• Store lambs over 40kgs – €104-€120 or €64-€76 over;
• Over 35kgs (store lambs) – €60-€86 or €30-€56 over;
• Heavy ewes – €120-€156/head;

• Lighter ewes – €60-€112/head.

Last week’s cattle prices

According to Blessington Mart, a “very good” trade prevailed for all classes of cattle, both bullocks and heifers, on Thursday, October 13^th, 2022.

The spokesperson reported that this was its largest sale of the year, and prices reached €1,300 over the kg.

• HE/AA store heifers – €370-€640 over;
• Continental store heifers – €460-€780 over;
• Beef heifers – €680-€1,010 over;

The spokesperson noted that the cast ewe trade was “similar to last week”.
