€80,000 thatched cottage offering ‘real development potential’

Pat Callanan Property Sales LTD is seeking €80,000 for its newest listing, a thatched cottage in Ballagh, Menlough, Ballinasloe, Co Galway.

The property firm has placed ‘The Thatch’, as it is known locally, on the market in recent days.

It says the traditional thatch cottage “offers real development potential to someone that would seek to restore it to its former glory”.

According to the selling agent, the property “could be redeveloped for any number of purposes whilst retaining its rustic days gone by charm”.

Its accommodation comprises four rooms – including a living room and two bedrooms.

Moreover, the cottage has PVC windows and an extension to the rear with a galvanised sheet roof. Furthermore, there are some sheds and out-offices.

Properties from €15,000 to just under €100,00

Meanwhile, Brendan Kenny of Connaught Property is seeking €83,000 for a cottage on 16-acres in Co Mayo.

According to the selling agent, the G BER-rated cottage (main image), in need of repair, is located in Laveymore, Charlestown, just off the Carracastle road.

Kenny explained that the property is 2km from Charlestown in a “nice” residential area.

On the other hand, the land is “mostly good” meadow and grazing land and is in one lot.

Kerry property

Meanwhile, Tom Dillion of Dillon Prendiville Auctioneers has placed an advised minimum value of €50,000 on a property in Clieveragh, Listowel, Co Kerry.

The property includes a “charming” detached roadside cottage (public water connection and sewer), a lock-up store, and a lean-to shed.

According to the agent, the dwelling, which is BER-exempt, sits on a compact site and “offers great potential”.

Its accommodation includes a kitchen/living room and two bedrooms. It will come under the hammer in an online auction on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022, at 12 pm – pre-register on the selling agent’s website.

Also new to the market through Mary Henry of Henry Auctioneers, Adelaide Street, Co Sligo, is the former St James’ Well National School in Carrowmore, Geevagh, in the county.

According to the firm, the property offers the subsequent purchaser a “fantastic opportunity with a spacious yard offering endless potential in a convenient location”.
