Farming News/Mart Reports on That’s Farming – Aurivo Balla Mart – Cattle Prices – 26-09-2023
According to Stephen Hannon of Aurivo Balla Mart, exporters, farmers, and online purchasers nationwide made their presence felt at its most recent weanling sale on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023.
The mart manager and general manager of Aurivo Marts reported that the sale attracted some 600 bulls to ring one and circa 250 heifers in ring two.
He commented that “there were some great weanlings on offer and excellent prices paid by buyers. Prices were well up on this time last year.”

Weanling bulls
Top of the town at €2,000 was a Belgian Blue-cross out of a Limousin-cross dam, which weighed 450kgs and was born on 23-03-2023.
Bull weanlings 200kg to 350kg averaged €3.45/kg, while those in the 350kg to 450kg levelled at €3.26/kg and lots north of 450kg+ sold for €3.14/kg of an average.
One CHX bull born in April 2023 weighing 340kg sold for €1.510 or €4.44/kg, while a 450kg Belgian Blue saw the hammer fall at €1,510 or €4.44/kg to an exporter.

Meanwhile, in the weanling heifer ring, lots 200kg to 350 kg averaged €3.17/kg, while heifer weanlings 350kg to 450kg levelled at 3.03/kg and lots over 450kg+ averaged out at €2.97/kg.
One young BBX heifer, out of a LMX dam, weighing 340kg made €1,850 or €5.44/kg, while another lighter 305kg CHX made €1,360 or €4.46/kg.
