South East Technological University (SETU) is seeking to recruit a senior academic to act as the Veterinary Medicine Programme Development Lead.

SETU, Waterford Campus has been successful in its bid to role out a new veterinary medicine degree programme, which it will deliver between this campus and Teagasc Kildalton Agricultural College, Co. Kilkenny.

The Veterinary Medicine Programme Development Lead must have a degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognised degree awarding authority and at least 5 years of relevant post-qualifying (degree) work experience in practice, industry, research and/or third-level education.

The candidate should also have knowledge of the regulatory requirements for veterinary medicine education programmes as set down by the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI) and the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE).

Duties and salary scale

The appointee will report to the head of school. The salary scale applicable to this post is the Senior Lecturer II Scale currently starting at €88,008 – €113,150.

This is a three-year full-time fixed term position with an immediate start.

Some duties of the post include having a leading role in the development, implementation and maintenance of academic quality assurance arrangements associated with veterinary medicine, support the recruitment of staff for the new programme, providing academic leadership and scholarship in course development in course coordination, and lecturing up to 105 hours annually.
