Firefighters were called to a Cavan-based farm earlier this week to tackle a tractor blaze.
The incident occurred in the Butlersbridge area of the county on Monday night (April 26th, 2021).
In a brief statement on the matter, a spokesperson for Cavan County Fire Service, said:
“On Monday night, firefighters from Cavan Town (CN11) attended a tractor fire in the Butlersbridge area.”
“Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS) was used to extinguish the fire. This flame retardant foam smothers the fire and is more effective than water alone in these scenarios.”

Car ‘wedged’ in hedge after tractor collision
Meanwhile, last week, Barnstaple Fire Station in the UK attended the scene of a road traffic collision involving a tractor with a slurry tanker and a car last week.
Fire crews assisted an elderly passenger who became trapped inside after the vehicle ended up wedged between the tractor and a hedge.
The fire station shared images of the aftermath of the collision on social media and issued a timely reminder to members of the public.
The post reads as follows: “Last week, Red watch and Barnstaple’s On-Call crew were mobilised to a two-vehicle RTC in Landkey.”
“Barnstaples On-Call section arrived at the incident first and found one elderly male passenger still inside the vehicle.”
“The car was very well stabilised between the bank and the tractor, so the passenger managed to climb free of the vehicle with a little assistance from the emergency services.”
“As you may have noticed, this time of year is extremely active for our farmers, and there are a large number of big agricultural vehicles on the road. As we all start to venture out again with restrictions easing, please bear this in mind and drive safely,” the spokesperson concluded.
