Savills Ireland appoints new director

Savills Ireland has announced the appointment of James Butler to the position of director, the firm has confirmed in a statement to That’s Farming this afternoon (Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023).

Butler joined Savills in 2017 and has “extensive” experience in advising clients on the sale and purchase of residential and country property throughout Ireland.

With 20 years of experience in the property industry, he began his career in 2003 as a country property agent in Scotland.

He has since acted for clients in the sale and purchase of some of “the finest” properties in Ireland and Scotland.

James works closely with agency colleagues in Savills’ network of offices throughout Ireland and the UK, including the foreign desks in London.

He has a strong agricultural background, having grown up on the family farm near Coleraine in Northern Ireland.

In addition to his role in farm sales, James and his team are also actively involved in residential sales throughout the country.

James comments

Commenting on his appointment, James said: “I am delighted to be appointed as a director at Savills Ireland.”

“It is a privilege to represent the Savills brand and to work with such a talented team of professionals, both in Ireland and globally.”

Interview with Josh Pim

Previously, That’s Farming editor, Catherina Cunnane, spoke to Josh Pim, Co Laois, about his career at Savills Ireland.

He told Cunnane: “Property was never really on my radar growing up or even studying in college.

After graduating from NUI Galway with a bachelor’s degree in commerce and specialising in marketing in my final year, it was my ambition to explore a career in marketing.

You could say that I fell into property after I got an internship at Savills as a marketing intern.

This was my first time coming face-to-face with the property world, but I enjoyed seeing deals being sealed and negotiations happen.

I decided from there that I wanted to get into the agency side of property.

I grew up immersed in selling and auctioneering, albeit in the bloodstock industry, as my father and grandfather were bloodstock auctioneers for Tattersalls.

You could say that I was destined to end up in the auctioneering industry somehow or another.”
